As General Counsel to NRCC, Sundeep advises NRCC on day-to-day, strategic, legal, and operational matters relating to copyright law, copyright reform, corporate law, employment law, regulatory matters and litigation. Sundeep manages external counsel with regards to litigation (Federal Court of Appeal) and numerous administrative law (Copyright Board) matters. Speaking at various international fora and writing regularly in the area of Copyright, Sundeep has also appeared before Parliamentary committees.
Prior to joining NRCC, Sundeep was a Policy Analyst with the Copyright Policy Branch of the Department of Canadian Heritage where he focused on the digital-new media issues of the Section 92 Report and Canada's ratification of the WIPO Treaties.
Sundeep articled in Vancouver, British Columbia with a national Canadian law firm where he worked primarily on corporate/securities law and was involved in a number of significant commercial transactions.

Sundeep obtained his LL.B Cum Laude from the University of Ottawa. Prior to his studies in Law, he obtained a B.A. (Hons.) from the University of Toronto graduating with High Distinction.

Currently, Sundeep Chauhan is the Vice President & General Counsel to the NRCC, the non-profit collective which administers the performance rights of recording artists and record labels in Canada. As the Vice President and a member of the Executive Management Team, Sundeep leads the Legal Affairs Department and is involved in managing the day-to-day affairs of the NRCC.
