SHORT BIOGRAPHY


Designated by the Law Society of Upper Canada as a Certified Specialist (Intellectual Property: Copyright), Sundeep Chauhan has extensive experience with respect to intellectual property issues relating to the entertainment, broadcasting, new media and retail sectors. Sundeep provides clients with innovative solutions from an integrated legal, business and policy perspective. He has been involved with proceedings before the Supreme Court of Canada, Federal Court of Appeal, the Copyright Board of Canada and has appeared before a Parliamentary Committee with respect to Copyright.


Sundeep is also a registered Canadian trade-mark agent and manages large trade-mark portfolios for multi-national organizations. Sundeep practices intellectual property (copyright & trade-mark), corporate, and administrative law with Gilbert’s LLP


Sundeep spent several years as Vice-President & General Counsel to  a music licensing company. Sundeep focused on strategic management, copyright, technology, the collective administration of copyright, the certification and enforcement of copyright tariffs and corporate commercial matters. Sundeep was also a Policy Analyst with the Copyright Policy Branch of the Department of Canadian Heritage.


Sundeep is Adjunct Faculty at Osgoode Hall Law School where he teaches an intellectual property law seminar on copyright. Sundeep has been invited to speak at numerous domestic and international events.


Sundeep graduated from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law, and obtained his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) with High Distinction from the University of Toronto.

HISTORY OF eLawNetwork.com



Launched in 2001, eLawNetwork.com was a portal site containing links to 30 plus pages of Internet-related case law, legislation, & articles.  Issue specific sub-pages ranged from online advertising to domain names and hackers to spam.  As internet-related copyright issues increasingly gained prominence, in 2002 the daily Copyright eReport email newsletter was launched.  In 2010 the Copyright eReport Twitter was introduced.
